Mobile app redesign

OVERVIEW

My task was to redesign the current student loan mobile app so that it could include the new financial products the business was releasing — personal loans, credit cards, and savings accounts. They also wanted to make sure it was easy for customers to make their monthly payments and support dark mode. 

 

ANALYSIS

After researching other apps in the financial industry, doing a heuristic evaluation of the current app structure, and several rounds of design concepts, I presented my design recommendations to the clients to demonstrate all the key goals they wanted and for their feedback.

USER TESTING

Once we all were in agreement on the new designs, I created a small prototype and had several rounds of virtual user testing sessions. These user tests were eye-opening! They were crucial to improving certain interactions and simplifying the designs.

ACCESSIBILITY

I also conducted an audit of the app to ensure it met the WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines while focusing primarily on color contrast, voice commands, and large text options within both the iOS and Android apps for light mode and dark mode. 

SOLUTION

Our team was proud to launch a new mobile app design that allows customers to view all their accounts at a glance and make their payments in 2 taps. We were also proud to notice a 4.6 star rating in the app store and comments from customers of how easy and nicely designed the app is.
