Athlete Profile Data Design
OVERVIEW
StrongArm Tech had an online dashboard for warehouse supervisors to log into and see the data for their warehouse employees. StrongArm called these warehouse workers "Industrial Athletes" because they lift heavy boxes and move fast to accommodate demanding productivity goals, which means they use their bodies alot at work. To reduce injuries and back pain, these Industrial Athletes wear a StrongArm sensor that will detect if they are bending, twisting, or tilting in a way that is hazardous.
ANALYSIS
After conducting client interviews, hearing feedback from our client team, and researching other apps and websites in the 'data design' realm, our UX and product team observed that it would be most beneficial to have a dedicated individual Athlete page to show the Athlete's data. This page could also be used for supervisors to have a conversation with an Athlete to review the Athlete's scores, and discuss how they could improve their scores as well as how their scores compared to other Athletes.
DESIGN EXPERIMENTS
After several rounds of design ideas and leading clients through participatory design sessions, we nailed down a very clear, concise, and easy-to-scan data-designed page that gave all the priority information a supervisor would need to show an Athlete how safely they are moving as well as actionable details on what to do to improve their scores if needed.
SOLUTION
Our team was proud to launch a new, clean design that was responsive so that supervisors could show Athletes their scores on-the-go from their phone or tablet. To access this new "Athlete Profile" page, supervisors could select an Athlete from their list shown below. Eventually we'd like to update this starting screen to match the new modern design of Athlete Profile, but that was in the works as a next step.
